PostHeaderIcon Use #hashtags to get your tweets found.

Ever wondered what the hashtags are for in twitter?

eg. #hashtags How hash tags help your tweets get found?

Well they were originally created by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages. They help people find interesting tweets.

To use hashtags you simple put the symbol # before relevant keywords in your Tweet.. This helps them get found when someone searches for that keyword.
If you click on a hashtag in a tweet it will show you all other tweets in that category. Some hashtagged words that become very popular are often Trending Topics.

PostHeaderIcon The best SEO tools are free!

There are loads of SEO software you can buy and I am often asked to review some.  Most of them are the same and offer the same, but whats different is the price.  I have never bought any as I know all the tip and tools and they are free anyway.

When it comes to keyword tools the best tool I believe is Googles.  As 90% of all searches are made via google it makes sense to use it.

Google offer many other tools, more than enough to help with your SEO efforts. So never waste money on SEO software as they are just using what is already there and free for everyone to use…

Here at Ethical SEO I would like to say happy 12th birthday to Google.

PostHeaderIcon SEO is dead with Google Instant?

Rubbish! SEO done correctly is all about providing the content and products people want. When done logically you will still show up for the right keywords for your audience. It’s all about being the best in your industry.

I believe Google instant will help because with Google’s suggestions appearing, we have our keywords… these are the words people are more likely to select. If they don’t select them them they will keep trying untill they produce the results they want. If people arnt happy about this feature they can turn it off.

All the time there are search engines SEO will continue to thrive. Every website needs to be optimised to be found naturally in search.

PostHeaderIcon Will Google Instant change search engine optimisation?

Nothing is going to change in terms of the results for the query but it’s possible that people will learn to search differently over time. All Google Instant is doing is answering and solving peoples problems faster. Google is pretty fast already, returning results in milliseconds, but it takes us several seconds to type in a query. With predictive search and instant results, we get the answer we want much faster.

Google instant is a simple feature that shows the results of searches as your typing in the queries. So you get instant search results. Also it predicts the rest of your query before you finish typing. You can then scroll through these predictions and see the results instantly.

PostHeaderIcon PageRank

PageRank is the measure of importance Google assigns to a Web page on a scale of 1 to 10.

Google’s founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, formulated a Search Engine algorithm that shifted the ranking weight to off-page factors such as inbound links. They developed a formula called PageRank, in which the algorithm counts the number of sites that link to a page and then assigns the page an importance score on a scale of 1-10. The higher the number and importance of sites that link to your page, the higher the PageRank of your web page.

PostHeaderIcon “Natural” or “organic” search engine results

“Natural” or “organic” search engine results are the list of websites that are found under the “sponsored links” results.

The “sponsored links” are websites that have paid for that placement, this is known as Pay Per Click.

The natural results are all the websites that the search engine thinks are relevant to the keywords you searched for.  To be listed within the top search results of organic search engine listings your website has to be optimised for the keywords/phrases you wish to come up for.  This is known as SEO or Search Engine Optimisation.

PostHeaderIcon SERP’s

Search engine results pages or SERP’s are the listing of web pages returned by a search engine in response to a keyword/phrase query. The results normally include a list of web pages with titles, a link to the page, and a short description showing where the keywords have matched content within the page. A SERP may refer to a single page of links returned, or to the set of all links returned for a search query.

The list of websites consists of two different types of results:

The websites appearing under the sponsored listing section which are normally at the top of the page and to the right, have all paid to be there using Pay Per Click campaigns. This is called paid inclusion.

The rest of the results are natural or organic search engine results. Your site needs to be well optimised using SEO techniques to appear high in these natural listings

PostHeaderIcon Article Promotion

When it comes to promoting your website and getting high rankings nothing quite compares to article promotion. Article promotion is the free and when done correctly will help increase your rankings in the SERP’s.  By writing well written informative articles and posting them to online publishers you will become an authority figure in the industry.  Good well established articles sites usually get thousands of visitors’ everyday and your article might be the right content that someone is looking for.  Most article directories will let you include a short bio and an important link to your website which is the important part for the ranking.  Your hyperlink back to your website is what helps with ranking your site.  Ensuring you have keywords in these hyperlinks tells a search engine what that page is about.

Another great thing about article promotion is that some of the publishers actually allow their visitors to copy the articles and place them on other websites. This means your article with the all important bio can spread all over the Internet giving your site even more in links and weight to your site.
